Google uses Social Network sites for Search Engine results

Google uses Social Network sites for Search Engine results

Google uses Social Network sites for search engine results. So from now on Googles search results are increasingly based on how often something is shared by friends through social media. Search results from friends are in fact often more relevant than general hits. Web pages written by friends and shared on a social media networking website such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace or Google Plus, are now increasingly getting better results in the Google search engine.

So for example if your friends share a links on Twitter or Facebook, then these sites are getting higher in the search resultsthen if you are looking for something on Google. Among the results it also shows how often something is shared and by whom.

Google now looks not only for what is shared by a Google Account, but also by Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and many other social networks. It is also possible to disable certain social network sites not to be display in the Google search engine.

Google stresses that only things that have been made public will be displayed in the search results. So if you have certain things in your profile is not made visible to anyone, then Google can't use it for their search engine.

Information and tips on how AdSense works

Information and tips on how AdSense works

Google is the most used search engine in the world. As a website owner you can sign up for Google AdSense. With AdSense you can place ad units on your website. When visitors click a link in the ad unit you get a commission paid. The Google AdSense / Google AdWords program places ads on websites of individuals. Google pays web publishers for the clicks visitors make on their website. They are paid based on the number of clicks or impressions, depending on the type of ad. With Google AdSense and a successful website you can easily make money at home.

You can see below and to the left of this page an example of how Google AdSense might look on your website.

Related content

The ads (links to other sites) displayed on your website are related to the content of your website. They often fit well to your site. Google decides which ads are shown. However, it is allowed to exclude certain sites.

Because the ads usually or of the same topic, your website visitors will be more inclined to click on ads. And that's what we want: the more clicks, the more money it brings.

No hassle with advertisers

If you use Google AdSense you do not make contact with the advertisers, and so you do not bill out to tender or to negotiate the price. AdSense arranges everything for you. Your money is automatically credited to your account.

Get paid per click (PPC)

Because the advertisers (Google AdWords) pays per click, you will receive the amount the advertiser pays Google, minus the commission Google gets.

For example, if an advertiser is paying 40 cents for a click, you will receive about 28 cents per click. Google will not confirm this but it is said that about 68% of the amount the advertiser pays is paid.

The earnings of the clicks are related to the keywords that the advertisers have bid. Popular search terms make more money.

These are usually highly competitive keywords. For example words like web hosting, dating sites, loans, money, etc.. Experiment and see which words are most profitable. The most expensive clicks are not always necessarily the best. Suppose you have found a keyword with 10 cents per click ... but if no one clicks, you still have nothing. You have to have words that people often click.

Dont click on your own Ads

It is forbidden to click on your own ads and to set up others to click on your ads. Advertisers pay for valid and relevant clicks, if you do, then your account will be blocked, and you can no longer use AdSense ads. Not even in the future.  You may also have only one AdSense account. These can be used for all your websites.

It is therefore important to know exactly what Google does or does not allow. It is also not useful only to use AdSense on your website. If your account is blocked by Google, all your earnings are gone away. So do not depend on one revenue model. It is also useful to install software on your site against click fraud. Software such as Adlogger allows a visitor a maximum number of times (eg daily) to click on ads.

Placement of AdSense units

The placement of your AdSense ads are very important. They must stand out so visitors will click on them. With high contrast colors in the ads you can immediately let them jump out, or you can blend them in when you use the same colors as your website.

Make sure that it's almost as if the AdSense blocks belong to your websites content. It shows that ordinary visitors rather click on ads blend well in to a site, then click on links that obviously come from an AdSense block. It is important that the text and background colors and font are similar to that of your website.

From Google you can use up to three text blocks ads and three link block on one page (you may also use two search bars). These blocks do not always equal at all. And more is not always better. Sometimes it can be more effective if you only have blocks or just links on your site. So test this out!

General or specific site?

When creating your site, you can keep it generally or you can choose a specific topic. For Google AdSense, it is wiser to keep it on a specific topic. Website with a general topics you often get poorly targeted ads displayed, where visitors hardly click on it. For websites on a particular topic, more relevant ads allowing more visitors to click. Make sure your site completely "finished" before you place AdSense blocks. Then you can be sure that the most relevant ads are placed. It can take weeks for the Google Bot come back around to see which ads fits best with your site.

Building a business

Most webmasters who make money with ads on their website do it for some pocket money. You can also decide to make your work on this.

There are many ways, but most webmasters choose one of these strategies:

  • Creation of 100 sites which pays 1 dollar for each site per day
  • Creating of a single website that  pays 100 dollar or euro per day.

Both strategies have advantages and disadvantages. Maintaining 100 websites takes time. And fully dependent on a website is very dangerous, because if you do something wrong and you're suddenly not findable in search engines then you suddenly have no income anymore. Most webmasters are therefore somewhere between these two strategies.

Adding a RSS Feed to Blogger

Adding a RSS Feed to Blogger

Adding a RSS feed to your Blogger (Blogspot) you can bring the news from other websites to your own website, and it updates automaticaly with the latest news or whatever you desire. In this article we show you how to setup the Blogger RSS feed. With this standard widget you can choose from one to five news items to display, you can also enable the date of the post. It is very easy to do and only takes about 5 minutes of your time.

  • Go to your Blogger dashboard and hit the design button.
  • Now click on add gadget and search for the RSS gadget called Feed.
  • You get a new screen where you can enter the url of the feed. Go to a website that you want to display on your site and search for their RSS feed. Copy and paste the url in the box i talked earlier about.
  • If everything went well you will see the news items been displayed on your site.

Change the Blogger Favicon and Add your own Favicon to Blogspot

Change the Blogger Favicon and Add your own Favicon to Blogspot

Recently it is possible to change and so customize the standard Blogger favicon and add your own favicon to your Blogspot blog. A favicon is that tiny little image (16x16) just in front of the url in your web browser. Previously this was always the orange letter B of Blogger or Blogspot. Nice but there is nothing personal about it. So now you can make your blog even more personal by changing this image and use one of your own images.

Keep in mind that the images you use must be a square. The site then converts your image automatically to the appropriate .ico format.

Now I show you how its done:
  • Log into the Admin section of your Blogger site and click design.
  • On top of the next screen you will see the text to edit the favicon.
  • Press browse and find the picture you want to use on your Blog, hit save and your done.
Note:  it can take some time for the image to appear, you can speed this up by deleting your cookies.

Or use a online generator to create one

As if it's not enough you can easily create one with a online favicon generator. One of such free online icon generator is the one on Dynamic Drive. Look for the desired image on your hard disk, select it, click on create icon, and the generator makes a great icon of your selected image.

You can also use graphics programs like Photoshop to create an icon for your site, or you can download ready-made icons.

5 great tips for household savings

5 great tips for household savings

Five quick tips to help you save money on the homefront.
1. Make your own household cleaner by filling a plastic spray bottle with two thirds water, a third white vinegar and a dash of lemon.
2. Buy a couple of succulents or cacti or some hardy green plants at your local Home Depot or hardware store to put in your living room — and that’s it. No more bought cut flowers unless you grow them yourself or a friend gives them to you. If you’re having guests over, it’s much more appealing is to turn lights down low, light tea candles and put on some music. Forget fripperies of the past.
3. Cut old T-shirts or undies into rags — use them instead of paper towels.
4. As Sheryl Crowe once said: You should just use a couple of sheets of toilet paper. Two? I’m not sure that’s enough but we should all cut everything in half and be SO much better off. Use half the amount of hot water, electricity — cut showers in half or have one every other day. Only have dessert every other day and treat yourself to a Starbucks only couple of times a week. Use just half the amount of paper towels, shampoo  (moisturizer, conditioner, perfume, toothpaste, etc. etc.) that you normally use and see how long it lasts.
5. Is your carpet old and stained? But can’t afford to replace it? Go online and find a carpet dyer in your area. Seriously, they will dye your carpet another darker color for about $60 per room. It’s incredibly cost-effective. If you have floorboards, don’t be afraid to paint them in a bold color: white, black or charcoal grey. If you rent, go to Ikea for rugs.
